About Me

Hello!
I'm Gladis Salinas. Studying Special Education and my endorsements in Cognitive Impairments and Emotional Impairments at Grand Valley State University. Fall '15 semester, I was at Grand Haven High school teaching assisting, which I loved. This Winer '16 semester, I have started Student Teacher a 1st grade CI classroom at East Leonard Elementary (from GRPS)
My ideal classroom would be working with middle schoolers or up, especially high schoolers.

My idea/plan on using technology is so I can place homework/assignments on my website. If students were missing or just need additional more resource, they can go to my website and check it out.

Besides my family and friends, Mindy Kaling is important to me. I like how she's not afraid to be herself, to be funny and awesome. She's one that taught me to be confident, and if not, just to pretend that I am confident in what I'm doing.
I also think, that it is important to travel. I don't want to live a "boring" life. Being adventures is something that we all need.

Well, That's ME! :)

  1. Hi Gladis!

I am also a big fan of Mindy Kaling; she is hilarious! I definitely see some of her confident and funny characteristics shining through your personality. I think that these qualities will help you connect with your future students! Props to you for even considering teaching at the middle school level; I don't know if I could handle kids at that age.

When you were teacher assisting at Grand Haven High School, what type of classroom were you in? I am in a self contained moderate-severe CI room at Zeeland East High School this semester. I have never worked with high schoolers before and I am a little nervous. Any tips/suggestions?!

    1. Hello Samantha,
Mindy Kaling, she is very funny. From the first moment I saw her, instant love.
I know many have said that its scary to teach middle school. I just like the feeling that you can connect and make conversation on a deeper level. I love being able to joke around same stuff.
When I was in Grand Haven, I was in a Resource Room English (9th grade), and then we co-taught english. I loved it, but not that it was an English class. I am so happy/jealous you got high school. You'll do great, just remember that you are their teacher not friend. (hopefully that makes sense)
      Good Look!

  2. Hello Gladis!
I love Mindy Kahling too! She is a great inspriation for anyone, but especially teachers because we have to be ourselves to be successful teachers.
I like that you want to use technology as a resource for homework. If students do not have a computer at home will you give them time to learn your site/technology in class?
You are going to be a great teacher. I really want to teacher middle school or high school as well!
