My current placement compared to my last semester placemen,
it totally night and day. Last semester, my placement was at a location where
it is know to be the “richer” part. I was placed in a High School Resource room
form Freshmen English. Many of those students had a Learning Disability. There,
at that school, all students had chrome
books, all classes had smart
boards, it was all up to date. My now
placement, is not that fortune.
Something that takes time out of my CT time is that she does not always have a
laptop available to do her IEP’s and other important information.
When it comes to IEP’s, that’s a lot of time in that as
well. She has to take time to do the assessments to all the students (since
most of their IEP’s are due around the same time). She then has to corrects
them and see where the child is at. Being children with special needs, their
education plan has to be based on their needs. So my CT also has to take time
to see what would benefit each students.
Something else she would like to do, is to be able to know
how her class will go that day. Everyday is a new adventure, and a new struggle.
She has to adjust sometimes and be able to just change anything.
It sounds like a lot of your teachers mention IEPs as being time consuming. While one suggestion would be to use Google Docs/Drive, there are concerns about privacy. Check out this link on how to use Drive (or Google Apps for Education - GAFE) for secure IEPs. http://www.mguhlin.org/2015/11/securing-sensitive-data-with-googleapps.html
ReplyDeleteI'll tell my CT that. I know that she doesn't like to take her work computer home (because its so old), and she can use her.
